Building Provincial Historic Site
This fine white Irish limestone building, with stately columns,
was constructed in 1847-1850 was the Legislature Building
for the Newfoundland Government until 1960.
Commissariat
House
Restored to its original 1830s splendor, Commissariat House
is a late-Georgian mansion that was once used by the British
military.
The
Fluvarium
When you visit the Fluvarium, you'll have the chance to
look through a series of nine panoramic viewing windows
and see the secret underwater life of a river.
Fort
Amherst Museum & Tea Room
You'll have a unique experience when you visit this site,
as a former light keeper's dwelling has been transformed
into a museum.

This area is a highlight of St. John's nightlife, featuring
cobblestone streets lined with pubs.
Government
House
Government House, located on Military Road is the private
home of Newfoundland's lieutenant-governor, the queen's
representative in Newfoundland, and was built in the 1830s.

Concourse Walkways
St. John's is proud to say that it is part of one of the best
walking networks in Canada. The Grand Concourse is an integrated
walkway system for the cities of St. John's and Mount Pearl

J. O'Mara Pharmacy Museum
The James J. O'Mara Pharmacy Museum is a heritage drug store
circa 1895, and is a replica of a working pharmacy complete
with a set of antique store fixtures, a display of pharmaceutical
implements such as mortars and pestles, scales, cork presses

GEO Centre
Built deep into the earth with only the large, glass-encased
entryway protruding above ground, this geological shrine is
literally embedded in Signal Hill, which is made up of 550-million-year-old

Wine Vaults Provincial Historic Site
The Newman Wine Vaults are a wonderful place to visit, where
this 200-year-old building with stone barrel vaults is now

Vidi Battery Provincial Historic Site
This battery was originally built by the French in 1792 amidst
their capture of St. John's, and then taken over by the British
who rebuilt it to ward off any possible attacks by Americans.
Railway
Coastal Museum
Train enthusiasts will enjoy looking over the 100+ exhibits
and displays. You'll find over 1000 unique objects and documents
- from railway timetables to telegraph keys, from signal lights
to silverware. The
Rooms
The Rooms unites the Provincial Museum, the Provincial Art
Gallery and the Provincial Archives under one roof. From the
glaciers' retreat 12,000 years ago to contemporary life, the
museum tells the stories of Newfoundland and Labrador and

landmarks in the province was, they'd probably tell you Signal
