You’ll have a unique experience when you visit this site, as a former light keeper’s dwelling has been transformed into a museum. In addition to displays, you’ll enjoy the photo gallery; tearoom and craft shop that is onsite.
This lighthouse was the first in Newfoundland (built in 1810) and offers visitors a bit of history, a delightful tea and a spectacular view! Guided tours are available. Fort Amherst can be reached by taking Southside Road along the southern edge of St. John's Harbor.
