This fine white Irish limestone building, with stately columns, was constructed in 1847-1850 was the Legislature Building for the Newfoundland Government until 1960. In that year the legislature moves to its current home, the Confederation Building, on the north end of the city. The limestone on the building was imported from Cork, Ireland. It now houses the Provincial Archives. The Colonial Building is located at Military and Bannerman Roads.
