Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival

This is one of the largest festivals in the province. Held early August, the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival brings thousands of people to the city. The purpose of the festival is to promote and preserve the cultural tradition of the province through music, dance and crafts.

The province's best performers take to the boards in Bannerman Park. The festival also presents folk dancers, storytellers, crafts shows, and festivities.

Royal St. John's Regatta
St. John's is home to North America's oldest continuously held annual sporting event, the Royal St. John's Regatta, which dates back to at least 1816.
George Street Festival
The largest celebration on George Street is the 6-night George Street Festival which occurs in early August.
Discovery Days
The long-weekend is filled with an eclectic mix of "hoopla" to mark the city's birthday.
Shakespeare by the Sea Festival
All the world's a stage with the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival held mid July - end August!
