The largest celebration on George Street is the 6-night George Street Festival which occurs in early August and typically concludes on the Tuesday night before Regatta Day, which is set for the first Wednesday with fine weather in August.
This is one of the largest festivals in the province. Held early August, the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival brings thousands of people to the city. The purpose of the festival is to promote and preserve the cultural tradition of the province through music, dance and crafts.
All the world's a stage with the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival held mid July - end August! See the troupe transform unique outdoor Newfoundland sites into settings for classics from the Bard and other favorites.
